Gauteng Projects | ACSA Terminal A1 &A2

OR Tambo International Airport A1 A2 Terminal O.R. Tambo International Airport (ORTIA) in Johannesburg is the air transport hub of Southern Africa, catering for more than 20 million passengers each year. With more than 18,000 people employed by various companies at ORTIA, the airport plays a vital role in the city’s and Gauteng province’s economy, and boasts an impressive infrastructure that has expanded by thousands of square metres from its modest origins.

IES provided 48 Viking chilled water air handling units to serve the New Arrivals hall, baggage collection terminal, immigration section, the new 90 room Transit Hotel, State protocol lounges as well as various office spaces.

Section: A1 A2 Terminal
Kilowatts: 3500 kW
Value of Project: R48 000 000
Year of Completion: 2010

Original project started over 20 years ago.
3 Millions litre chilled water storage plant served air handling units to the major tenants and individual ducted fan coil units to line shops.

Due to extended shopping hours the time for chilled water generation steadily decreased over the years. Consequently the original chilled water plant was expanded with an additional ice storage plant.
