Atterbury Property Group has recently completed the development of the 131 000m² Mall of Africa, South Africa’s biggest single-phase shopping mall development to date.

The mall boasts over 300 shops, in addition to a host of restaurants and an IMAX cinema complex.

Improvair Environmental Solutions (IES) was awarded the HVAC contract for the right half of the mall, and installed the following system:

The main system is a central heat pump chilled/hot water system with a combined capacity of 5.8 MW cooling and 1.8MW heating. The system can simultaneously supply hot and cold water into the building to meet different demands from the occupants.

The following equipment is incorporated:

6 x cooling only chillers
7 x heat pump chillers
57 x ahu's
22 x secondary chilled water and hot water pumps
16 x kitchen canopy extract and make up systems for restaurants
Several chilled water fan coil units and DX split units
Various toilet extracts and make up systems
